The Waiting Continues...

Well, my due date came and went yesterday. The doctor said no progress has been made yet. I will go back in on Friday for a non-stress test and another check if the baby continues to feel she is not ready to make her entrance. Given my thing about always being on time for everything, I was pretty sure yesterday would be the day. First lesson in motherhood...things are no longer under my control! Stay tuned...

First Disturbing Baby Dream

All through my pregnancy, I have had not one bad baby dream - although I hear this is a common experience. But two nights ago, I had my first one....

Without any painful contractions or warnings signs, I felt the baby pushing its way out. I couldn't stop it from happening. When I looked down, there was a flattened image of a baby - much like a paper doll. I was devastated! Nine months of pregnancy only to discover I never had a real baby inside me at all! How could the doctors have seen the baby in the ultrasounds, heard the heart beating? How would I explain to all my family and friends that there really was no baby?

You moms out there ever had a similar dream or other baby-related nightmares?

It's Starting!

Well, the process seems to be starting. The doctor told me I am indeed having contractions even though I haven't been feeling any discomfort so far. Also, I am now 80% effaced, 0 cm dilated, and the baby's head is at -2 station. All systems go!

Surprise!

Well, they sure got me at work today! I followed my manager right up to the cafeteria with my pen and notepad thinking we were having a meeting and I was greeted by the whole department, cameras, baby gifts, and cake! I think my face must have been a nice shade of red. A complete, and very nice, surprise!
